Our Whole Lives (OWL): Honest, accurate information about sexuality changes lives. It dismantles stereotypes and assumptions, builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, fosters healthy relationships, improves decision making, and has the potential to save lives. For these reasons and more, we are proud to offer Our Whole Lives (OWL), a comprehensive, lifespan sexuality education curricula for use in both secular settings and faith communities.
We have volunteers who are trained to teach OWL for grades K-1, 4-5, 7-8, 10-12 and adult), and rotate through which levels are taught each year. You can reach out to the Director of Religious Exploration, Carney McRae, to be placed on an interest list.
OWL K-1 - This level has eight sessions that help children begin the lifelong process of acquiring information and forming attitudes and values about identity and relationships, safety and health. Parent & child orientation is on Saturday, October 3 at the First Universalist Church in Rockland. The weekly sessions will be on Tuesdays from 5:15 to 6:15 PM starting October 6 and ending November 17. See the schedule for topics covered in the sessions. We will offer the sessions at two locations (if we have enough participants): Midcoast UU Fellowship’s Community Hub at 38 Elm Steet, Damariscotta AND First Universalist Church in Rockland. Registration required.
OWL 4-5 will be offered again in Fall 2027
OWL 7-8 will be offered again in Fall 2027
